Some people just can’t wait for the sweltering heat and relaxation of Summer, the floral blossom and new year of Spring, and of course, the crisp white snow and Christmas cheer of Winter.
But if anyone tries to tell you they can’t wait for the orange autumnal glow of a tree in Fall, what they really want to say is this…
“I could kill for a Starbucks Pumpkin Spiced Latte right about now.”
Yes, it’s the drink that’s quickly come to define the Halloween season and a Pumpkin Spiced Latte (or PSL as us cool kids call it) is a beverage to be savoured each and every day in Autumn, right until the festive cinnamon flavours roll into fashion.
Unfortunately, though, some of us poor sods haven’t been able to enjoy the delights of a PSL for very long and so we’ve only just come around to the idea of how life-affirming they can be.
Yes, that’s right, we need to talk about vegans.
We vegans are still a much-misunderstood marketplace for many food and drinks outlets, and so catering to us can often feel like a nuisance or just the chance for a quick buck as opposed to an aim to create high-quality alternatives.
Starbucks only started catering the PSL to vegans in 2018, and let’s be honest, it hasn’t been all that great…
Although us animal-loving tofu chompers can at last wrap our taste buds around the drink that practically no one can stop going on about, ours is a flat un-fancy version of the original cream adorned beauty.
But that might be finally about to change this Autumn, as the Vegan Pumpkin Spiced Menu is getting a big makeover this year!
Forget the PSL, it’s now all about the VPSL (you can probably work that one out for yourself).
What’s On The Starbucks Vegan-Friendly Autumn Menu?
For the first time ever, vegans will this year be able to get their hands on a Vegan Pumpkin Spiced Latte with a soy-based whipped cream topping!
Then for those with a sweet tooth, there’s also an all-new Vegan Pumpkin Spice Cookie!
Staying true to the original’s unique charm, the VPSL tries not to stray away from the PSL’s never bettered recipe, still using the same authentic combo of Starbucks Espresso Roast, seductive pumpkin base and an added assortment of spices including nutmeg, cloves and cinnamon – all a big fat zero on the vegan sins chart.
You can then add dairy-free milk of your choice (soy, oat, almond) and then pair it with the real PSL experience, a super creamy soy-based whipped topping designed by vegan favourites Alpro.
It’s the one thing the VPSL has been missing up till now, providing plant-eaters with a silky vanilla texture and a lot of added indulgence points!
Priced at £3.30, it’s a sweet treat to celebrate your favourite season and for those not au fait with a latte, the Vegan Pumpkin Spice blend is also available as a Frappuccino Blended Beverage.
Always remember to order it vegan too, as a normal PSL with milk-alternative still uses a pumpkin pie sauce which contains cow’s milk!
As for you cookie cravers, you’ll now also have a perfect dunking dip with the Vegan Pumpkin Spice Cookie
Using the same delicious milk-free blend of pumpkin pie sauce and spices, these baked goods are a vegan-only special and for once something created especially for us as opposed to a hashed-together alternative!
Priced at £1.75, they are a naughty but not horrendous 340 calories and the perfect foodstuff to get you into the autumnal spirit!
The VPSL is currently available across all Starbucks stores in the UK and Vegan Pumpkin Spice Cookies are thought to be available from as early as October 1st!
How To Order Starbucks’ Vegan Autumn Menu
While all these exciting new vegan items, the temptation to head down to your local Starbucks is understandably unbearable, but we know for a lot of people this just isn’t possible in the current COVID-climate.
At the very least, you’re probably looking to avoid mixing with large groups of people and you may be avoiding going out altogether if your health dictates it.
But don’t worry too much, as there’s plenty of ways to get that Pumpkin Spice Life without compromising your safety and health!
Here are some of the different ways you can order fast and efficiently:
1. Beat the rush with the Starbucks UK app. Available on iPhone and Android, the official app allows you to order your drink ahead of time from any partaking Starbucks, meaning no queueing and quick takeaway pickups.
2. Delivered to your door with Uber Eats. Currently available at 22 locations in the UK, use the Uber Eats app to search for Starbucks and get the VPSL brought to you without moving a muscle!
3. Of course, many Starbucks stores & Drive-Thrus are still open across the UK, with Drive-Thrus, in particular, being a great way to get your fix without mixing in public. Find out which of your nearest stores are open on the Starbucks Store Locator.
