Coffee Breakfast Smoothie

You need a coffee before you head out the door in the mornings to get to work.

But you also know that breakfast is your best shot at getting some goodness into your diet. And you also know that it is often a toss-up between coffee and having something to eat – there simply isn’t time for both.

This drink can be made in super-short time even if you aren’t that well prepared – it only takes minutes to make if you have the ingredients to hand. But, you will need a good blender to get everything to the right consistency.

If you always keep some frozen banana slices in the freezer and have a jar of cold brew coffee in the fridge ready-made up, then it is a simple task of throwing it all into the blender. Enjoy in a glass before you head out the door, or transfer to a carry cup to take on the commute.

Perfect if the weather is a bit hotter, too.

Ingredients

  • 1 banana, sliced and frozen
  • 120 ml strong brewed coffee, chilled
  • 120 ml of milk
  • 25 g rolled oats
  • A spoonful of peanut butter
  • Dried berries, to serve

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients to a blender at once
  2. Blend until smooth, adding a bit more milk if necessary to reach a consistency to your liking or make the blending easier
  3. Serve immediately, sprinkling over berries

Tips

  • This can be made with any additions you like, whether it be chia seeds, nuts or powders
  • Any milk is possible, although if using skimmed or nut milk, you may want to keep it to a minimum for a creamier taste
  • If you have time, serve over ice, or add some ice cream for a dessert twist. You can also top with shaved chocolate
